patriotic floral…

federal-floral

Fun print for the 4th…

… back when 4th of July prints were relevant (my past life at Old Navy), I always enjoyed the “twist” we would put on adding an additional color to the typical red-white-n-blue palette. I like the khaki, adds a neutral twist, kinda military.

I found this print for 25 cents on the street in Carrboro (in the form of a cafeteria lady jacket).  Can’t quite figure out how I can rock this cafeteria lady jacket, but love the print.

Color

color

Loved this article in Metropolitan Home about Doug Myer and his incredible use of color in his Florida home.

He is a designer and brother to Gene Myer, who used to have a smart menswear clothing line. (late 90s.)

When I worked at Tiffany’s, the head of visual was friends with Gene.  I would get scoop on Gene Myer sample sales and pick up groovy socks and ties for my Dad for Father’s Day.

Cool to see Gene and bro Doug are splashing color in their brilliant fashion.  This reminds me I need to pick up a Father’s Day gift!

Popsicle and Pool Party!

porter-2-pop

Our local pool opens today! Thought Porter’s 2nd annual pool party invite from last year would be fun to post…  Having an August birthday insures a good 13 years of pool parties for him!

Spring Flowers in Paris…

fleurs

It is so gorgeous outside, this weather reminds me of these spring flowers in Paris. I snapped this photo on the sidewalk during my trip last spring.  A year later, I semi-have my act together and it still seems relevant…

Small aside:  when I was picking flowers for our wedding (almost 5 years ago!), my head was spinning on all the options. I learned from the talented Randy McManus, the designer we used, the easiest way to look modern was to go mass. Fortunately at the time (June), peonies were availabe en masse!  I will dig up a photo of our mass of peonies….

Vintage toy

playskool-bird

Egg shaped bird… so simple, so sweet! The noise it makes sounds like a nostalgic wind chime. (Or maybe that is just me wishing we were at the beach!)
